What is cash-on-delivery (COD) fraud?
COD fraud is when a buyer places a cash-on-delivery order they never intend to pay for — they refuse the parcel at the door or are never reachable. The merchant still pays the courier for shipping both ways and gets the stock back damaged or not at all. In Romania, refused COD deliveries are one of the biggest hidden costs for online stores.
How does CODcheck reduce COD refusals?
CODcheck scores every cash-on-delivery order from 0 to 100 using fraud signals — the buyer's history of refused or fraud-cancelled orders, a shared anti-fraud network across stores, phone and email validity, order velocity, value and address checks. High-risk buyers can have cash-on-delivery hidden at checkout or their orders held for review, so risky parcels never ship.
Does CODcheck use OTP codes or SMS verification?
No. CODcheck works from risk scoring and a shared anti-fraud network, so there are no OTP codes and no per-message SMS costs, and legitimate customers are never interrupted at checkout.
Is my customer data safe and GDPR-compliant?
Yes. CODcheck never stores customer names, phones, emails or addresses in the clear — they are turned into irreversible cryptographic hashes. Contact details shown in the app are fetched live from Shopify and never retained. A Data Processing Agreement is available in the app.
How much does CODcheck cost? Is there a free plan?
CODcheck has a Free plan that scores up to 30 orders a month at no cost. Paid plans start at $5/month and scale by order volume; every plan includes the same fraud protection. Billing runs through Shopify, and you can change or cancel any time.
How long does setup take?
About five minutes. You install from the Shopify App Store, activate the checkout protection with one click, enable the theme app embed, and pick a risk profile. On install, CODcheck also imports your recent order history so protection works from your very first order.
